The French expertise in value-added wood products used in the construction of the French Pavilion of the World Expo 2015 in Milan.
From 1 May to 31 October 2015, 144 countries and 3 international organiSations met in Milan on the occasion of the World Expo 2015. On that occasion, each participant will make a concrete contribution to the theme “Feeding the Planet, Energy for life “. Pavilions serve exhibitors country relay and support the interpretation that they are the theme.
Designed by Architects XTU Cabinet, the great dramatic work of more than 2000 m2, represents an inverted landscape, curvaceous slopes and illustrating the French territory. For the Pavilion structure, the choice naturally fell on the wood material. Its innovative design and graphics in its form shows the French expertise in wood structure: wavy shapes, invisible assemblies, complex geometry. The set is a vast space, ceiling meandering detours creating its venues for the dissemination of information and reflection. At the same time, the Pavilion must also be functional, welcoming place, demonstration, reception, catering, technical and sanitary premises. Finally, it is also intended as a model for sustainable economy: processed wood is local wood from Franche Comté, and the building will be dismantled and reassembled.
